The purpose of this course is to show buyers how they can obtain the right
goods and services and influence price. By getting involved early in the
supply process, right when the purchase is being identified, buyers can reduce
costs and improve quality.
This course explores opportunities to add value when identifying requirements,
appropriate uses for different types of specifications, and the importance of
involving purchasing when identifying requirements. About 70%–80% of total
cost is influenced when requirements are identified. That makes an accurate
description of the requirement critical, as is having purchasing involved
early in the supply process, where there are many opportunities to add value
by reducing costs and improving quality.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
Explore an overview of identifying requirements in effective supply.
Describe the purpose and the value of properly identifying requirements.
Determine when and where to use different types of specifications.
Decide to get buyers involved in identifying supply requirements.
New procurement professionals with 0–2 years of experience
